We provide countrywide fire safety courses for your staff employees.

Fire Training

The Legal Requirement for Training

The Regulatory Reform Order (Fire Safety) 2005 and the associated Health & Safety legislation place an obligation on employers to ensure that their staff receive adequate fire safety training at the time when they are first employed and on there being increased or changed risks. The level and frequency of staff fire training is determined by the type, use and risk presented.

Nicholas James will advise you on the most suitable training programme for your staff using the most advanced technology and resources available.

Course Content

All courses are delivered by Nicholas James Training Staff who are fully qualified Fire Engineers with over 27 years experience. Training is carried out normally at the client's premises with all learning tools provided. All courses aim to ensure that employees feel confident in their role in a fire emergency.

A Certificate of Competence will be issued on completion of the course.

Fire Extinguisher Training (1 or 1.5 hours*)

Delegates attending this course will be able to understand compliance with the Regulatory Order, identify potential fire risks, know which extinguisher is appropriate for which type of fire, use portable extinguishers safely and understand compliance with British Standard EN3 regarding the use of fire extinguishers.

Fire Awareness Training (2 or 2.5 hours*)

In addition to the objectives of Fire Extinguisher Training above, delegates will be able to identify factors that can prevent fire in the workplace, have an understanding of fire detection and alarm systems, understand fire signage, evacuation procedures and be able to carry out spot check Fire Risk Assessment using Pas 79.

Fire Marshal & Warden Training (2.5 hours*)

In addition to all the above, this course enables fire marshals to undertake testing of fire alarm and emergency lighting, to manage a fire evacuation and return to workplace, and report status and other relevant information to the Fire Services.

* All courses that run 1.5 and 2.5 hours include a practical session using water, foam, carbon dioxide extinguishers and fire blanket. Delegates will have the opportunity of putting out a 'live fire' situation using the fire simulator. An outside area of 15 x 15ft is essential and space to park our training vehicle close by.
