The Legal Requirement
Under new regulation The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, The provision and use of work equipment Regulations (power 1998) and the Electricity at Work Act requires the employer to accept responsibility to insure that any electrical equipment used in the workplace are subject to inspection and testing for their safety for use.
The recommended statutory period for testing is now once a year, any equipment under one year old is not required to be tested.
